Family Activity in Kendal
If you’re trying to think up a family activity in Kendal this summer, then we can help! We’re thrilled to be part of Kendal’s family trails initiative, which includes our bright and breezy display of umbrellas. The display certainly brings a shot of colour, even if the weather is delivering ‘liquid’ sunshine. And the trails are already proving popular…
There are six new trails and they take in some of Kendal’s best known landmarks. Fun for all of the family, adults and kids alike, they range from umbrella spotting children’s trails to a boozy beer and wine time trail!
Devised by Felltarn Friends and backed by Kendal’s Business Improvement District, they’re a great way to enjoy everything the town centre has to offer, from historic sites to great places for food and drink:
The maps are easy to follow and are packed with interesting snippets of information about the town’s hot spots. We’re really pleased to boast plenty of child friendly eateries – Booths Café, Armstrong Ward, Pizza Express and Slate. Slate is also included on the adult ‘boozy’ trail!
The leaflets can be picked up from around 40 different locations, including Booths and Armstrong Ward in Wainwright’s Yard.
So far, the pick up rate has been fantastic and we’ve had plenty of folk – little and large, young and old – spotting the umbrellas and standing in Wainwright’s historic footsteps!
We hope you can join us in the town centre for a fun activity for all of the family. It’s definitely a good way to enjoy Kendal and find your way around some of the lesser known spots.
As Sarah Williams, manager of Kendal BID said, it is all about helping visitors to explore Kendal:
“The whole thing is to make Kendal jolly happy,” she said. “And to get people wandering around Kendal rather than just sticking to the main streets, especially if they don’t know the town very well.”
