Regular visitors to Wainwright’s Yard, particularly those who call in at Armstrong Ward or Booths Artisan Café, may have noticed work going on in the neighbouring space.
Over the last few months the team at Lakeland Kitchens have been moving in and now their doors are open.
They have invested the same dedication and detailed care and attention to the fit-out as they do to every project for a client. Albeit this is a showroom with many, many kitchens to see.
Founded in 1999, Lakeland Kitchens are a family run business based in Kendal offering high quality, expertly fitted kitchens to domestic and commercial clients. They specialise in brands like Leicht, who have been manufacturing kitchen furniture for over 80 years from their factories in Southern Germany. They are also one of a few exclusive UK retailers of Leicht & Burbidge Kitchens and they deal with well-known household names such as Franke, Siemens, Silestone and NEFF.
A visit to their showroom at number 14 in Wainwright’s Yard speaks volumes about their ability to plan and design a kitchen from minimal and contemporary to one which the whole family wants to hang out in. Today’s kitchens are very different spaces. They combine form and function. Many practical aspects become features or are cleverly hidden away behind beautiful handleless doors, and they are places of leisure. Kitchens have great sound systems and large wall mounted flat-screen TVs with comfy sofas. There’s also a choice of incredible lighting, from backdrop to feature, and technology brings a massive choice in appliances to make life easy and enjoyable. So there’s plenty to get excited about when it comes to options for this room.
It’s also proof, surely, that the kitchen will always play an important part in our homes, where all nourishment begins – physical and emotional. And if they are as good looking as the ones in Lakeland Kitchens showroom they will always be the room where people gather for foraging and food, company, chat and debate.
We can’t see the end of the kitchen, suggested last year by Investment bank UBS. Their report said a rise in meals bought could make kitchens redundant.
We can only see endless possibilities for making the most important room in the house the best. And that starts with a visit to our #SecretKendal – Lakeland Kitchens new showroom in Wainwright’s Yard.
