Are you spending too much time wondering what to wear on a typical British summer’s day? We sure are, so we called into Maya Maya in Wainwright’s Yard to chat to Owner, Amanda.
Here’s some of her top tips to make that morning routine a little slicker, and of course, make sure you’re looking your best.
Looking good, looking smart and staying cool in the hot weather are all possible:
Linen may be a little more expensive than cotton, but it gets better with age, so investing in a piece of linen will give you years of summer life. It’s a very strong fabric, so the more it’s worn and washed, the softer it becomes. It’s also durable and practical, and it keeps you cool in the warmer months, as its fibres allow more airflow than other fabrics. It’s firm structure means that it stays away from your body, so it’s great for sensitive skin.
My top pick in Maya Maya is this 100% linen dress. It comes in six prints including bright flowers and geometrics to suit all. We’re stocking sizes 8 -18 and I’ve been wearing mine with and without leggings, or with straight or wide-legged linen trousers for a different look.
Create a capsule holiday wardrobe
A capsule holiday wardrobe can be unpacked from the summer suitcase year after year. We have a large selection of cotton and linen separates including; trousers, tops, dresses, jackets; all beautifully coordinating. These are also great for packing light.
You can still look smart and stay super cool in the heat of the summer by layering your clothing too. Try wearing a t-shirt under a vest top, with smart pants for a casual office day look.
Invest in a new summer scarf
If you’re looking to update your summer wardrobe on a budget, or simply need something to brighten up a particular outfit, a summer scarf always adds that little bit extra. We have plenty of different patterns and colours in stock.
