With the holiday season well underway, it’s worth a visit to Wainwright’s Yard to pick up all your essentials – and some treats – for summer getaways.
Start in Booths, and pick up some of their teabags for a taste of home. Founder, Edwin Henry Booth, was a tea dealer, and his knowledge has been packed into their small batches of leaf tea. There are 17 types of tea to choose from; for a stress reliever post-flight, pick up their Pure Peppermint.
From Booths, pop across to Armstrong Ward, where you can find fab holiday bits and bobs for the whole family. Long journeys often lead to restlessness, but activities books and pint-sized puzzles are on hand to alleviate boredom.
Armstrong Ward also stock some beautiful Moulin Roty soft toys, which are small enough to carry around or fit into hand luggage, and come in a range of species!
For fashion-conscious little ones, we spotted some fab sunglasses in some funky prints, and patterned sunhats – one boasting tractors and palm trees.
At the other end of the shop, you can find versatile and functional Roka bags; ideal as hand luggage and in a variety of colours and sizes.
And whilst coming home is the last thing on your mind when holiday shopping, you might fancy picking up a scented candle – maybe Seasalt and Spray, by Armstrong Ward – to ward off the post-holiday blues! There are also lots of lovely scented candles just over the street at La Maison.
If you’re in a rush and you can’t face rooting through rails for uncooperative family members, Crew Clothing’s website has fantastic choices for men and women.
You can order online and collect in-store – this season offers Bermuda shorts, which dads can pair with polo shirts in a range of great colours, or lightweight linen shirts. For women, there are very pretty sundresses and floaty tops for days in the sun. Brilliant if you’re having a last-minute wardrobe crisis!
