, 24 April 2012 –
We had the pleasure of Burneside Brass Band for company on Saturday and in spite of the April showers a great day was had by all.
The event was organised by
Booths to celebrate St George's Day and the best of English food. The Band played two sets and one couple from Cornwall changed their plans for the afternoon so they could stay and watch the whole performance!
It's lovely to have a local band like Burneside carrying on a great musical tradition and we are pleased to announce that they have recently started the Burneside Brass Academy for players young and old who wish to learn to play a brass instrument or want to restart playing.
All tuition is provided free by some of the senior band members and where possible they will also try to provide instruments. Join them at St Oswalds C of E School Burneside 6.00pm - 7.00pm on Tuesdays during term time.
Full band rehearsals are every Thursday evening at Burneside Cricket Club 7.30pm - 9.30pm.
