With concerns about the impact of single-use plastics and greenhouse gases, and struggling to find a way to lessen their carbon footprint in mainstream supermarkets, the trio came together to give Cumbrians in Kendal and Penrith the option of a ‘zero-waste shop’.

The idea stems from the experiences of two families, and Zoe, Emma, and Chris have dedicated themselves to providing not only an environmentally friendly alternative for local shoppers but also an affordable way to stay green.

Offering a product range that includes groceries, cleaning products, and sanitary supplies, Another Weigh is always keen to hear feedback from customers about what they’d like to see on the shelves.

Asking only that you try and bring your own containers, the twin stores also provide a step-by-step guide on their website, to help you achieve your first plastic-free purchase:

Step 1- Weigh your container and print a label

Step 2- Fill with as much or as little as you want

Step 3- Scan your label and reweigh your container

Step 4- Pay!

There is absolutely no downside to this innovation, so why not try it at least once? And if you like what you see, join their membership! Nearly 500 other members already get 10% off their groceries, cutting their carbon emissions as they go. Membership costs, as standard, a one-off payment of just £30, or £15 for over-65s and students.
