Kendal Town Council are undertaking a project to update 17 existing Explore Kendal totems located around the town, including the totem outside Booths supermarket here in Wainwright’s Yard.

These well‑loved information boards sit in key locations and offer maps, historical insights, and useful information to locals and tourists alike.

You may spot some changes and some safety barriers while this work is carried out over the coming weeks, while the metal panels will be replaced on site.

Kendal Town Council will also be replacing all printed information on each totem. Once reinstalled, the totems will look very similar to their current appearance, as they are retaining the existing design, information style, and paint colours. The updates are primarily to refresh the content—particularly the maps, which require revision following recent changes within the town—and to address general wear and tear.
