Wainwright’s Yard is an award winning, custom designed shopping area in the heart of Kendal.

It is a popular and busy shopping development which links the high street, Stricklandgate, to Booths supermarket and public car park. Designed and maintained by the Eric Wright Group, it has brought quality, high end eating and shopping to a historic yard at the heart of the town centre.

Formerly Yard 28, it was re-named Wainwright’s Yard, in memory of the former Kendal borough treasurer Alfred Wainwright (1907-1991) who achieved worldwide fame for his handwritten and hand-drawn Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells. Wainwright’s Yard is a great place for a spot of shopping, drinking and eating.
